How’d you choose your major/minor?
I always knew that I wanted to work with children, but I didn’t have a specific career path in mind. I didn’t enjoy the science classes I took in high school, so I had ruled out most healthcare fields until I decided to shadow a speech-language pathologist for a day. I immediately fell in love with their work, and I realized that it checked so many boxes of my ideal career! At the beginning of my Sophomore year, I decided to change my major to Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the student lounge in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences building. Faculty members in the department have created an inviting space where students can do homework, eat free snacks, and relax on the futon. Some of my best college memories have been made in that lounge!
What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
The best part of college so far was studying abroad. I had the incredibly opportunity to live and study in Spain for a summer. I learned so much about Spanish culture and I decided to declare a Spanish major to continue my language learning!
