Academic Unit Resources
The Career Center is available to collaborate with academic units to help support career development needs and initiatives. This can be everything from tutorials on career center resources, training for new staff and faculty, integrating career competencies into the curriculum, and advertising career development related events to students. Contact us to discuss how the Career Center can support your academic unit and students.
Academic Unit Initiatives – If academic units have initiatives related to career development that they need support with – brainstorming, strategic planning, employer outreach, student awareness, etc. – Career Center staff may be able to support you. Reach out to explore the ways in which the Career Center can support your initiatives.
Career Competency Curriculum Integration – The Career Competencies are a cornerstone of career development and articulating how courses are integrating, supporting, and developing the competencies is a value-add for students. If faculty would like to discuss how they can integrate the competencies into their courses or discuss how they are already integrating them and how they can be articulated to students, the CoS Career Center can support this. Contact the Career Center for a consultation.
Resources – Valuable and important resources related to career development will continually be updated and added to this site and LinkedIn. If there is something you would like to see added to the section, please suggest a resource.
Request Career-Related Presentation – Career Center staff are available to discuss career-related topics to groups in the College, either virtually or in-person. All visits are coordinated to meet the specific needs of the group and are tailored to the topics you are highlighting. Please email the Career Center a request at least five business days prior to the preferred date.
UArizona Research Opportunities - Resources for funding, training, and professional development for faculty supporting undergraduate research.
Employer Resources
The role of the College of Science (CoS) Career Center is to offer broad support to all students in the College of Science to prepare for post-degree careers. The Center’s focus is to help students refine personal narratives and identify career paths that align with individual interests and needs. The resources available support students in developing the Career Competencies encompassing the transferable skills that allow CoS graduates to lead and innovate in any sector or industry.
The CoS Career Center can assist you in finding the talent you need for internship, co-op, and full-time opportunities. We work to ensure that the wide array of career opportunities and paths are visible and accessible to all College of Science students.
Career Spotlights – Friday morning each week. Informal opportunities for students to connect with employers to learn more about company culture, transition to career, skills for entry level jobs, and other topics based on student questions. May be virtual or in-person.
Employer Hiring Events – We are available to help support employer-specific hiring events. If you are recruiting a large number of students and don’t have the expertise or resources to host your own event, the CoS Career Center can help with in person or virtual events.
Engagement Strategy – Opportunities abound for an organization to connect and develop relationships with CoS students. We work directly with your organization to determine your goals and create an engagement strategy that supports your vision and the career development of CoS students.
Hiring and Networking Events – Events specific to CoS students. This provides an opportunity for both employers and students to connect and align on opportunities that are a best fit for both.
Post an opportunity – We utilize Handshake to post and share all job and internship opportunities with current students and recent alumni.
Skills Workshops – Showcase what your organization does well and help students develop transferable skills. Connect directly with students and highlight best practices, unique training and development, or host mock interviews or resume reviews to give feedback directly to students.
Unique Engagement Opportunities – Does your organization offer something that works well on another campus? We are open to any and all experiences that will bring value to CoS students and offer them unique opportunities for skill and career development. Virtual or in-person.
Alumni Resources
The number one request of CoS students is connecting with alumni to learn more about career opportunities, how alumni utilize the knowledge gained as a CoS student in a chosen career, and to begin to build their network. The CoS Career Center offers many ways for alumni to connect with students and offer their insights. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us to discuss opportunities.
The Alumni Career Lab – The Alumni Career Lab offers resources for career planning, mentoring networks to connect with professionals and alumni, conversations with professionals about their career path and successes, and job opportunities.
