Belonging & Community in Science

Belonging & Community in Science

The excellence of the College of Science in world-class research and high-quality education depends on our ability to attract and retain faculty, staff, and students who bring with them an intense curiosity about the world (and beyond), the creativity to explore and explain it in new and innovative ways, and the desire to share that understanding for societal good. A key to facilitating success for students, staff, and faculty is a culture in which all members feel that they belong and can participate in our scientific community knowing they will be seen, heard, and respected.

The work of science is done by people - highly trained individuals of integrity, intellect, imagination, and dedication. It is our goal in the College of Science to encourage and foster community that welcomes creativity and the innovative efforts of our scientists to transform ideas into experiments, models, theories, and technology, ultimately leading to discoveries that can transform our lives and societal understanding of the world around us.
