Major & Minor
Psychology and Environmental Studies

How’d you choose your major?
I chose to switch my major to Psychology before my sophomore year here at the UofA. I was originally a Neuroscience major, but I realized that my academic and career interests were centered more on psychology and human mental health and wellbeing, and less on the physiological aspects of the brain. I also added a second major in Environmental Studies before my sophomore year, as I am passionate about the environment, climate change, and the disparities of environmental impacts on individuals within our communities. Changing my major was the best thing I could have done for myself and I encourage anyone who does not feel like their major is a good fit for them to do the same!

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the Environmental and Natural Resources 2 (ENR2) building. The building has beautiful plants inside in the courtyard and on the building itself and I personally think it is the most peaceful place to study outside on campus. There is also a cafe on the bottom level!

What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
My highlight of college so far was participating in the Bio/Diversity Program in Fall 2021 as an intern. Through the program, I was able to provide environmental science education to students at a local Tucson school that are a part of marginalized groups that are underrepresented in STEM fields. Our goal was to provide educational outreach to students so that they could get excited about science and see that there is a place for each of them within STEM fields.
