How’d you choose your major/minor?
For a long time, I actually wanted to do law. But I specifically wanted to go into space law, and so for a while I was trying to figure out how I could incorporate my love for space and science into law. After interning for two years in high school at Los Alamos National Lab, doing plasma physics, I realised that I enjoyed learning science more than law! So I decided that for me, the best thing to do would be to major in astronomy, and decide later if I wanted to go into law school, or grad school. For that, I still have a lot of time to decide. I believe strongly that for science to be successful, one needs to have not only their analytical brain going, but to always stay creative. And for that, I decided to continue to pursue clarinet, as it poses different, creative challenges.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
The corner study rooms on the top floor of the Engineering Library are my favourite. Last semester somebody managed to get the window in one of the rooms open, so at night when I would go there, there'd be a nice breeze and sounds of people walking by.
What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
So far, the highlight has been seeing not one but two solar eclipses on campus with my fellow astronomy friends. I had never seen one before, so it was an amazing experience to share with other people who are also so passionate about the stars. It really confirmed to me that UArizona is the place to be for astronomy, not only because of the academics but also the passion for science that the community here has. I'm so excited for more experiences like these!
