Major & Minor
Major: Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences & Spanish

Hometown
Hawthorne, CA

How’d you choose your major/minor?
I chose my major because I love science and language, and I wanted to enter a profession that helps others. I feel like SLHS is the perfect combination of all three! I also have a second major in Spanish, which serves as a wonderful supplement to SLHS. I eventually want to work with bilingual English/Spanish speakers as a Speech-Language Pathologist because they are an underserved and prominent community in many places of the U.S., and my Spanish major will help me better communicate and treat these individuals.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the turtle pond because it is a relaxing place to study, hang out with friends, or even take a quick break during a busy day of class.

What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
The highlight of my college experience has been studying abroad in Alcalá de Henares, Spain to earn credits for my Spanish major. It opened my eyes to other perspectives, cultures, and ways of life while strengthening my Spanish-speaking abilities.
