Dear College of Science community,

Please join me in congratulating the graduating class of fall 2022! We spent a wonderful afternoon inside Centennial Hall as we celebrated our students’ many accomplishments with their families and friends. I encouraged the graduates to seize opportunities ahead of them, to continue asking questions, to listen and learn from new people and new experiences, and to share their knowledge and understanding with others. With the challenges and opportunities that face our global society, this is an exciting time for our graduates to pursue science. College of Science alumni are doing remarkable work and research around the globe (and across the universe for those in the space sciences!) and we are thrilled to see where they head on their next adventures. You can watch the convocation ceremony here.

I am also excited to share that Myth Busting Science is the topic of the 18th annual College of Science Lecture Series. We will host this four-part series inside Centennial Hall beginning February 1, 2023. We have a tremendous line-up of faculty presenters – Drs. Lee Ryan, Eduardo Blanco, Jessica Tierney, and Michael Worobey – who will debunk common misconceptions in society and apply state-or-the art scientific methods to solving critical problems. Visit our Lecture Series webpage for more information and to submit your RSVP. We look forward to seeing you in February!

In closing, I would like to wish all of you a joyful, healthy, and relaxing holiday season. I look forward to seeing you in 2023!

Sincerely,

Carmie Garzione
Dean, College of Science
