College of Science Launches Search for Associate Dean for Research

June 9, 2026

The College of Science at the University of Arizona has launched a national search for its next Associate Dean for Research (ADR), a key leadership position that will help shape and expand the college’s research enterprise.

As one of the University of Arizona’s largest colleges, the College of Science is home to internationally recognized faculty and researchers across Earth Sciences; life and molecular sciences; mathematics and computational sciences; neural, cognitive, and behavioral sciences; and physics and space sciences. The ADR will play a central role in advancing the college’s strategic vision for research, supporting faculty, staff and student scholars, and fostering new opportunities for collaboration and innovation.

Reporting directly to the dean, the ADR will work closely with college and university leadership, academic departments and external partners to strengthen research programs, identify new funding opportunities, promote interdisciplinary initiatives and support the continued growth of the college’s research portfolio. The position will also oversee efforts to develop and track key metrics that demonstrate the impact and success of the college’s research enterprise.

The role combines academic leadership with faculty engagement. The successful candidate will dedicate 50% of their effort to administrative leadership and 50% to their responsibilities as a tenured professor, maintaining an active research program.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a discipline represented within the College of Science and possess a distinguished record of research, teaching and professional achievement consistent with appointment as a full professor with tenure. The college is seeking a collaborative leader with experience in research administration, strategic planning, faculty support and the development of innovative research initiatives.

The University of Arizona offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance; retirement programs; tuition reduction opportunities for employees and eligible family members; and access to university recreational and cultural resources.
