How’d you choose your major/minor?
My older sister has been an important role model in my life, and she was a big reason why I chose to study biology in college. When I was little, she'd teach me the interesting things she had learned in her science classes at school. This was something I really enjoyed! My interest in science only grew from then on, along with my confidence in pursuing it as a field of study. I ended up choosing biology as the specific direction to go in because I'd had a few biology classes in high school, which had been really fun. So, I thought, "Why not try it out?" And I'm glad that I did.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
There's a little garden/courtyard in front of the CAPLA building on campus. It has a little pond and, depending on the time of year, you might be able to see frogs hiding around. The garden is a bit tucked away, so it can be hard to find your first time but it's always there for you. The sound of running water there can be really soothing.

What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
My experience in the Bio/Diversity Project Internship at the University of Arizona has given me a lot of amazing opportunities to connect with the environment and the community that surrounds me. I've learned a lot about the world and about myself too. For example, this internship helped me discover that I enjoy working with kids and that I'd like to become a pediatrician in the future!
