Major & Minor
Major: Astronomy
Minors: Physics, Japanese Language, Mathematics

Hometown
Sturgeon Bay, WI

How’d you choose your major/minor?
I have been fascinated by the juxtaposition of science and philosophy Astrophysics presented ever since I was little. I knew I wanted to do science, but I also knew I only had one life to do it in. So, I chose what I thought would be the most encompassing thing I could think of. I wanted to contribute to our understanding of the universe, while satisfying my own curiosity of how it works at the same time. It has been one of the most awe-inspiring and humbling studies I have delved into.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the Steward Observatory library since it allows me to be isolated and focus whilst being close enough to speak with my research mentor quickly.

What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
Things were put into perspective for me when I was allowed to work with Cycle 1 JWST imagery in 2022. UA having access to some of the earliest data and allowing me to look at some of the furthest galaxies yet felt awesome. Aside from this, overall confidence in ability as an astronomer and fascination with how upper-division physics describes the world is something I noticed in my 3rd-4th years.
