Majors: Psychological Science and Criminal Justice Studies
Minor: Criminology

Hometown
Pinckneyville, IL

How’d you choose your major/minor?
I have always been interested in space and I heard about the U of A's amazing astronomy and physics programs. However, after taking a physics class in high school, I realized that I did not enjoy the subject much. I then took a psychology class during my senior year of high school and fell in love with it, so I decided to come to the U of A for Psychology instead. Once I found out about the Psychological Science program I switched my major, because I have always enjoyed research. Additionally, my favorite show has been Criminal Minds for a long time and it is a dream of mine to work as a psychological profiler for the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. This is why I added my second major, Criminal Justice Studies. I also added Criminology as my minor, because it blends my two majors together.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the Highland bowl, or the large area of grass outside of Campus Health, with a bunch of stone benches. I think it's a beautiful area and it provides a cool, shaded place to study after class. I enjoy showing this spot to my friends and it would be a great place for a small social or picnic.

What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
The highlight of college for me so far has been working in my current research lab as an undergraduate research assistant. I work in the Family Routines Enhancing Adolescent Diabetes by Optimizing Management (FREADOM) lab here on campus and we examine the effects of sleep, school, and family activities on diabetes management in children and adolescents. I really enjoy the work that we do and am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to a psychological research study. This position has ignited my passion for research and opened my eyes to potential future research opportunities.
