How’d you choose your major/minor?
Earth science is a subject that I’ve always had a strong passion for. When I was little, I used to constantly read books about earthquakes, volcanoes, and the planets. My childhood interests in natural disasters spurred into a love for geology in general as I grew. Becoming a Geosciences student was a very easy decision after I learned about U of A’s high quality program.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the line of desks on the fifth floor of the Science and Engineering Library (SEL) that overlooks the mall. It’s a quiet place to study with a great view of both Mount Lemmon and campus.
What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
So far, the biggest highlight of my college experience was when I presented my research at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Houston, TX at the end of my sophomore year. It was a fully-funded, week-long trip where I learned about recent planetary research and networked with professionals in the field. Two other highlights are the spring break trips I took my freshman and sophomore years. Both years, I went and visited national parks in Utah with friends in the pre-professional environmental fraternity I’m in called Epsilon Eta.
