How’d you choose your major/minor?
I actually hated physics until coming to college. I'd had a lot of teachers tell me that I wasn't cut out for physics, and this killed any interest or love I might've had. At university, I met a lot of like-minded people through different organizations who encouraged me to give physics another shot... and I loved it! I felt supported by my research advisor and fellow peers, and I found the mathematical explanations physics gave to our universe to be beautiful. I started conducting research at the university and haven't looked back since.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
I love the courtyard outside of Steward Observatory. It's got orange trees, a nice swath of grass to sit on, and a great view of the observatory. I have fond memories of painting, carving pumpkins, and working on homework with friends in this courtyard.
What has been the highlight of your college career thus far?
I've had the opportunity to study abroad in France, Germany, and Spain, so that's certainly one of my highlights. I'd never been abroad before college, and it was life changing. It was incredible to see sights in-person that I'd only seen in pictures and learn about the history of a city from the voices of locals. With this full cultural immersion, I've learnt new perspectives and values that I wouldn't have otherwise had.
