Outstanding Seniors in the College of Science: Arjun Nigam
This spring, departments in the University of Arizona's College of Science nominated an outstanding senior who went above and beyond during their time as a Wildcat. We are pleased to share their stories as they reflect on their time at UArizona. Next in the senior spotlight series is Arjun Nigam from the department of Mathematics.
Arjun Nigam
Mathematics
College of Science: Why did you choose your area of study?
Nigam: I always liked math and was relatively good at it, so it was a very easy decision to make.
COS: Tell us about a class or research project you really enjoyed
Nigam: My favorite class is a three-way tie between commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, and algebraic topology. As for my favorite research project, that would have to be my honors thesis on enriched enumerative geometry. The project combines my two favorite topics: algebraic topology and algebraic geometry.
COS: What is one specific memory from your time at UA that you'll cherish forever?
Nigam: This is more like a class of memories, but attending lunches before the number theory seminar with professors and other math students was a really fun experience.
COS: What is next for you after graduation?
Nigam: In the fall, I will be joining the math PhD program at Duke University.
