UArizona celebrates inaugural Women of Impact class, including eight College of Science inductees
This week, the University of Arizona celebrated and recognized its inaugural Women of Impact class, highlighting 30 bold and forward-thinking leaders, including eight representatives from the College of Science.
Inclusive excellence fuels our mission to develop adaptive problem-solvers and in a time of incredible transformation, both in thought and practice, we have learned the significance of uplifting and empowering one another. During Women’s History Month in June, the Office of Research, Innovation & Impact at the University of Arizona announced the Women of Impact Awards as an inaugural effort to embrace and empower women, who through their work at our university, are laying the groundwork for a better future.
Faculty and staff nominated more than 400 outstanding women who have contributed to our identity as a world-class research enterprise. Among other criteria, the members of this class were selected by our committee based on their commitment to our mission and values, an application of skills toward discovery and innovation, the enrichment of our community, and the empowerment of others to ensure lasting change.
"I am delighted and honored to introduce the inaugural class of Women of Impact, comprised of 30 bold and forward-thinking leaders, who will serve as mentors to a growing network of honorees in the years to come," said Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell, senior vice president for research and innovation, in June. "These women are an outstanding example of the many on campus who forge innovative pathways, powerful collaborations and remarkable discoveries that contribute to our identity as a world-class institution."
