Outstanding Seniors in the College of Science: My Duyen Tran
This spring, each department in the University of Arizona's College of Science nominated an outstanding senior who went above and beyond during their time as a Wildcat. We are pleased to share their stories as they reflect on their time at UArizona. Next up in the senior spotlight series is My Duyen Tran.
My Duyen Tran
Hometown: Surprise, AZ
Degree: Molecular and Cellular Biology
College of Science: Why did you choose your area of study?
My Duyen Tran: I choose to study molecular and cellular biology (MCB) because of the support that I received from the faculty and professors in the major. I knew this is where I would be supported and I’ve had such a great time taking classes in this major. The connections I’ve made in MCB are invaluable to me.
COS: Tell us about a class or research project you really enjoyed
My Duyen Tran: One of my favorite and most memorable classes was MCB 181 Honors with Dr. Weinert! It was one of my first MCB classes, and I loved and appreciated the learning environment that was created by Dr. Weinert. I felt really supported in this class and had a really fun time learning all the aspects of biology. This was the class that gave me the courage to pursue research as an undergraduate!
COS: What is one specific memory from your time at UA that you'll cherish forever?
My Duyen Tran: One of the memories that I will always cherish are the times that my friends and I would study in the main library late at night preparing for our finals. We would share food, talk and just connect with each other through our stressful times. I very much value the friendships and connections that I’ve made throughout my time in MCB.
COS: What is next for you after graduation?
My Duyen Tran: I am planning on applying to medical school after graduation. It is my dream to serve people through medicine and to apply all that I have learned in research and community service to be the best physician I can be.
