A Message from Interim Dean Elliott Cheu

Dear College of Science Graduates,

I would like to take this time to offer you my most sincere congratulations. We are extremely proud of your accomplishments, especially your ability to graduate with a degree in science. As we can see from the current pandemic, deep knowledge of science is a key component in solving some of our most pressing problems, challenges that require gathering the appropriate data, and developing creative solutions. And, while the future at times appears uncertain, having a degree in science from the University of Arizona will provide you with the foundation for a rewarding career.

Please accept my thanks to all of the family members, friends and acquaintances of our College of Science graduates, without whom you would not be celebrating this event today. While it is a cliche to say that "it takes a village", this cannot be more true when we think about how your journey at the University of Arizona depended upon the support of your family and friends. I hope that you will also remember the faculty and staff in the College of Science who have helped guide you throughout your time in college.

Finally, I would like to encourage you to be an active alumnus of the University of Arizona. Please keep us up-to-date on the many achievements that I am sure you will experience in both your personal and professional lives. I hope to see you in the fall during Homecoming, when we will be able to celebrate your accomplishments in person.
