Message from Dean Carmie Garzione - February 2024 Newsletter
Dear College of Science community,
I hope the start of the semester is going well for you.
We had a great turnout of College of Science faculty, staff, students, Galileo Circle members, and community members at opening night of the 2024 College of Science Lecture Series! I would like to thank Sam Gralla for giving a tremendous presentation on black holes and the fascinating science behind them. I hope you will continue to join us at Centennial Hall and on YouTube livestream throughout the month of February for the remaining three lectures in the series, including this week’s talk on February 14 with Charlotte Pearson from the Laboratory of Tree Ring Research. Visit the Lecture Series webpage to learn more.
The University’s Giving Day begins February 14, and I hope you will consider making a gift to help support the students, faculty, staff, and programs that make our community so vibrant. Scientists are driven by a shared purpose to improve the world through research and discovery. Making a gift on Giving Day to a cause near and dear to your heart makes you a partner in those efforts!
In closing, I wish you all the best this spring semester. Please be sure to read through the many exciting happenings in the College of Science and beyond in this month’s newsletter.
Sincerely,
Carmie Garzione
Dean, College of Science
