Dr. Vicki Chandler
Dr. Vicki Chandler is Provost at Minerva University. She is the Chief Academic Officer, providing administrative leadership and budgetary oversight for academic affairs, admissions, and advising functions, with oversight of all academic programs and policies.
Prior to joining Minerva University, Dr. Chandler served as the Chief Program Officer for Science at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. She taught and ran research programs at the University of Oregon and the University of Arizona. She has served extensively on national advisory boards and panels, including the NSF Biological Directorate Advisory Committee from 2001-2004. She joined the National Research Council Committee on Defining and Advancing the Conceptual Basis of Biological Science and was elected to the governing council of the National Academies of Science in 2007. She serves on the Board of Science Education for the Academies.
Dr. Chandler has conducted pioneering research on the control of gene expression in plants and animals, receiving numerous awards including Presidential Young Investigator, Searle Scholar, the NSF Faculty Award for Women Scientists and Engineers and the National Institute of Health Director’s Pioneer Award.
She has chaired or co-chaired Keystone, FASEB, and Gordon Research Conferences, served the latter as an elected council member and sat on its board of trustees. She has been president and served on the Board of Directors for the Genetics Society and served as president of the American Society of Plant Biologists. Chandler is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society and a Fellow of the American Association Advancement of Science.
Dr. Chandler was a member of the NSB class of 2014 – 2020 and was appointed to the NSB class of 2018 – 2024 in January 2023.
